Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
Thus far, I notice it's often a One Trial Only Per Lifetime offer ("naive" only), so the choice needs to be sharp.
Where to find them ? Thus far, I'm monitoring CT, clinicaltrials.gov -- & I'm phoning pharma companies to leave a message expressing interest in being enrolled.
(This, while waiting for biopsy to indicate whether this month's fibrosure (0.65) indicates if I have time to wait, or if I'm Stage 3 and so might be enrolled in triple therapy rather than wait.) And, yes, am looking for a local hepatologist to provide a second opinion before I make any Next Step.
Having played Watch & Wait for 20 years, I feel like I'm on a merry-go-round, and this time around I might catch the brass ring (such as a great clinical trial), or miss the ring but still get off the merry-go-round intact (inft therapy without compromising sides) and all for the better, finally
