I can get by without making any purchases for the day.

I try to do my thing against over-consumption every day of my life. Today I shall be heading up into the hills on my mountain bike... My bike is 5 years old, and I maintain it myself, replacing parts when they wear out, not when they go out of fashion. Much like my clothes, and everything else! My hairstyle comes back into fashion every 7 years or so, so I feel more 'current' every so often. Let's hope I keep it! "He who dies with the most toys is a fool."

I will most likely make a major purchase today and save some major cash.

My wife's car was totalled when a distracted driver slammed into her at 55 MPH while she was stopped at a light. She is healing, but her car is totalled.

By purchasing a certified used car today, we get a $500 gift card. I'm still comparing deals, but I'll probably pull the trigger shortly.

It's true as I get older I am no longer in acquisition mode, rather purge and recycle. If I haven't used it in a year give it to someone who will.
All the clutter of boxes and drawers and basements full of things I don't use becomes a liability in later years.
