Hi all! Kat here. or Arabella(my daughter's name)if you prefer. I am geno 1b or 1a without the harder to treat Q thing depending in who you ask. I just got approved for 400mg of sofosbuvir and 150 mg simeprivir ( spelling may be off but you get the idea) The meds. get delivered Saturday so I suppose that will be my start date. Seems unreal. I have a zillion questions like can I work out still? Will my appetite increase or decrease. ( hoping for the latter). He said with Olysio to wear lots of sunblock. so I guess its safe to say it causes some photo sensitivity. I will do my best to let you all know my experiences during the process, like Rass and some others have been doing (thank you for that too!). So woo-hoo!!! I am still hoping and praying for each and every one of us!!

Fantastic news! Good luck with your treatment. From what others have said you should have few side effects. I would probably ask your doctor to be certain, but working out should be ok. Just listen to your body.

Yay! Even though I couldn't get this combo myself I've followed as many folks as I can find who are on this combo. If it were me I'd expect to be extremely fatigued & experiencing some headaches. Everyone says they can go on with their lives in a fairly uninterrupted fashion. How awesome is that! Good Luck Kat.

GREAT NEWS! Are you having to do a "class"?

I experienced an increase in appetite and weight gain but cannot definitively attribute it to these drugs. i think it was the effects of coming off my previous tx. I had lost weight on Riba, gained it back and then kept gaining...

Don't worry about any aide effects.

Marilyn I am praying for you, Thanks for all the happy thoughts , I do not have to do a class, at least theres been no mention of that. I kinda want to so I can know all I can. I rely a lot on this site for info and thus far its been the most informative! I am looking forward to offering input and getting cured!!!

Hi Arabella, I did the triple Tx, interferon,riba,incivek.
So much different from your Tx. The sun though was
mean!! I went to Florida 3 months into Tx and the sun
was so intense on me. And I'm an outdoors guy. Even
with 50spf on. So be careful. And good luck with Tx!!!

Ozzira I am definitely concerned about that too, Im in southern CA inland Empire so it is blazing much of the time AND I live outdoors (not literally) Im going shopping for some linen stuff, and I have a friend with Lupus who is offering suggestions for not getting fried. I never wear sunblock and live in tank tops and shorts so it will be an adjustment for sure! But sooooo worth it!!!

Just make sure you take care of your skin on Tx.
It's not that long. So you can get all tanned 'n' shit
after!!! LOL. Also the meds. & sun will mess with
your eyes. You want some good polarized shades.

Thanks for the advice!!, I will grab some good shades today, I could alway get that spray tan but more likely embrace the anglo-saxon!

Embrace your anglo Kat. Not only do we have to be careful what we ingest but the liver has to process the chemicals that are applied to our skin as well so I'd forget about the spray tan while on tx.

Arabella - this combo is WORKING FOR ME! Sovaldi/Olysio. Just got my 2 week labs back. WOW! Gonna post under "Seeing is Believing"

And yes - the sun - I live in AZ. Glad it's still cool here, so I wear long sleeves, long pants and a BIG HAT when I'm outside. Yes, it's the Olysio that can cause photosensitivity.

If the "Q thing" is not an issue for you (it is with me - I am Geno 1a and dr. did not think it necessary to test) this tx will KILL THOSE BUGS. I expect it to for me too, but can't be as certain as I am about 1b's.
