Are these two going to be available as as combo (with Riba probably) for Geno 1? By available, I mean FDA approved as a "combo" tx? I wonder, since they are different pharmas.

Just read the article. Shit. WITH Interferon. No way.

If approved, both simeprevir and sofosbuvir will be indicated for treatment of HCV genotype 1, but only in combination with pegylated interferon/ribavirin. (Sofosbuvir approval is also expected for genotype 2/3, just with ribavirin.)

We need to be organized to mobilize support for these two drugs to be used together, to be covered for all--- a media blitz, exposee, personal stories.... It needs to happen sooner rather than later, or only the rich will have the off label combo that is least likely to have nasty sides.

With me clovers. Same status here. Abbott and the sofos/simeprevir combo should give us very good odds. Just take good care of all aspects of your health in the meantime.

Did anyone answer the poster " mr. Guha's" question on cost? I too remain positive. Although the drugs may be cost prohibitive for me. Chins up while we wait.... Thanks for the article K. :)

There are gen 1 non-i combos in the pipeline, like the BI Riba/Faldapovir tripple now in Phase III trial.
