LOL Lecvicah...baggies of HOPE.....well it seems everybody is trying to get a piece of the pie..but for some folks its not happening soon enough. I keep paying these ridiculous COBRA payments hoping that something gives soon..but at the expense of Cobra I might be better off saving the thousand a month and socking it away and pay for the TX myself at this rate its going!

@rass im not sure having health insurance at these prices is a good thing. I looked at other quotes and they are just as expensive if not more so than the absurdity of cobras rates..in 2014 when these health exchanges kick in its not going to help someone like me..its all very depressing..im trying to find a trial the docs here aren't offering more than soc and I cant do interferon..and quite frankly why would anyone at this stage of the game big pharma is playing.

If a trial doesn''t open up in Houston for post-transplant patients real soon, like in the next 3 months, I'll probably have to start on the triple. I'll see what my annual tests show in June. I don't want to try to get in a trial away from Houston through the access thing (whatever it's called), because I want to be supervised closely by my medical team.

Your Doctor is the one who applies for expanded access so it can be done without you moving to Houston...

There's also Compassionate Access which will do the same or better... There are plenty of links I posted that take you to both of these programs on the FDA website...

You ought to take another look @ these two programs again and then go over them including the website of the FDA with your Doctor because you may just be the perfect candidate and you don't have to MOVE!!! Go for it Marilyn!!!

Ohhhhh thanks Kramer and Henry, I went to clinicaltrials.gov etc and found a trial in CO.. *not sure how to read/decipher the different drugs used. But will certainly google .

Henry, I read the page of the study TMC435 in combination with G57977 that mentioned.
Under the exclusions, it says "Has a history of malignancy with 5 years of the screening visit".
I went down the whole list of the studies that are recruiting, and that's the only one I saw that hopefully would apply to me. There may be more, but that's the only one I saw. And of course since I have had a cancerous tumor in my liver only 3 1/2 years ago, until I had the transplant, looks like that excludes me.
I'm going to send an email to my doctor's office reminding them that I am interested in getting into a trial, by Expanded Access or Compassionate Use, if necessary. I told him on my visit in January that I would like to get into a trial. I have an appointment with my doctor in June, so I'm not going to make a sooner appointment, because I would like to get my 3-year annual testing done and a new biopsy first. My doctor IS up on the trials.
