walsh your absolutely right about the slow suicide but try not to be so harsh booze is one tough habit to break. maybe the sickness of tx will make the man choose life over booze. yea, booze will wipe him out in only a few years at best. hep c? your friend booze has to go. there is life after booze and thats coming from a man who loved to drink the loudmouth..

Wow thats harsh walsh. But he should stop drinking get him help his virus may go away now but its more likely to come back if he continues drinking on tx.

i couldn't even do tx unless i stopped drinking. there is no sense in it

your right walsh, i wasnt allowed to tx untill sober for at least six months. however tx often causes folks to relapse into addictions in an effort to cope i spose. tx is some bad shit.. nicole, we know your made of steel by now, but im accusing you of being a little bit of a bullshitter. you have to be feeling crappy by now, you must be the master of downplay.. bullshitter !!

damn sorry to hear that, that is very serious especially having a liver disease, that is how I lost a couple of friends.

...I went to AA have been sober for 2.7 yrs now, drinking and the liver are very serious issues, take it up with your doctor.

another point the dr's asked me if I was still drinking or using before I started tx, they won't let you do it unless you are clean and sober. The medication is very hard on the body and is really compounded if you are still drinking or using.

this is a most serious subject, as serious as life or death, but i cant help myself .. a shot of peg, bout 6 ribavirins, a sixpack n a couple puffs off a number, man that would be an interesting place. youd be ready to visit straightshooter on the dark side of the moon. thats where he hangs out a lot. likes his privacy, str8 does..

That is counter productive in all actuality.I am sorry to hear this as I have buried five of my friends who did the same as your husband .Lets hope he is not one of those statistics.... Get him to AA if you can , it helped my wife out a bunch....

You certainly can't make your husband stop drinking alcohol but you both must know how serious it is to be drinking while on treatment. I hope he gets rid of this virus but he certainly has not done himself any favors at all by drinking alcohol during treatment. I know alcohol is a hard thing to quit for many people but I still find it hard to believe that anyone would drink while on this horrible treatment and thereby reducing the chance of kicking this horrible virus.

Prior to starting my treatment I drank maybe one glass of wine every 2 weeks and, even at that, my doctor made me sign a contract stating that I would not drink alcohol during treatment or else he would stop my treatment - PERIOD!

Ha captain I'm not a bullshitter at least when it comes to tx. I have had crappy days but overall I can handle the tx. I will say I do have it easier than others and I know some people have serious sides but in my case now I barely have any side that effect my day to day life.

In the beginning tx was the worst flu sides, nausea and lack of appeptite but for me that only lasted only a couple days a week for a couple months.

But I made sure that my body was rid of all alcohol months before I started tx.

And that was my long winded point. lol

Oh yea and robbiesgirl I've learned that someone is only going to stop doing something when their ready. If hes not ready then theres nothing you can do. He sounds like he has a serious alcohol problem. And your a strong person for even coming on here and telling us what you're going through.

AndNicole makes a very valid point about until someone is ready to quit their addiction , no matter what it may be , no matter of yelling, talking or anything will work.I have been there done that first with myself when I was much younger and second with my wife who I hope finally bottomed out and now understands that it takes work to become sober and more importantly stay sober. AA is seeming to help her so far and me I have this knack of wanting to survive so quitting all the crap that I have in my life , alcohol being the last thing I walked away from just made sense to me.I hope you can get your husband some help but , until he is ready stand by his side the best you can as I know how difficult it is to see ones spouse hurt themselves...
