Hepatitis C Support Group
Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
I don't think any of us can really advise you about what to do about switching and increasing dosages, etc. I would so hesitate to do that - these are powerful meds and only you and your doctor should be figuring out what to to. But DO talk to him/her about it. Me, I take Ativan for anxiety - my doc will not prescribe Xanax or Valium for me - and has her reasons not to based on knowing me personally and medically. I could get Clonazepam if I really wanted it - but we've done that and I admit to being an addictive personality - so I liked it a bit too much - but for panic attacks and taking something every day to prevent them - it was excellent.
I think as our bodies fight the virus with the assistance of tx meds - MAYBE we have different reactions to OTHER meds. No one will ever know for sure, but in my case, an increase in my antiD caused wipe-out fatigue. A week later now back down to 10 mg taken at night (instead of morning), I am fine. Many of us need an anti-depressant AND an anti-anxiety med. Those conditions are not mutually exclusive - so you are on the right track there, it would seem - like me, needing both. Anti-D every day - Ativan only as needed. I've had severe panic attacks in the past triggered by driving on highways - and getting to town means driving the highway (forget freeways). I've had anxiety all my adult life. I hate it too.
Long post - sorry.
I always try to use them very conservatively - as needed.
