My opinion on the flu shot might not be what you want to hear, "I am totally against it, with or without being on treatment".

While both my hubby and I were on treatment, he didn't want us to have the flu shot.

In my opinion, I should also tell you that the doctors do not recommend the hep a & b shot while on treatment cause it doesn't live up to it's potential, so it has to be the same for the flu shot.

Again in my opinion you should discuss it with you PCP or Gi but I wouldn't take it.

I was told by my doc that it is not only OK to get the flu shot, it is advised, as well as the pneumonia vaccine and the hep a and b vaccines. None of these are "live" cultures, which are the ones to avoid while on tx. The reason the doctors advise these shots is because if you contract any of these diseases while you have hep c it can severely compromise the liver and then we would be in for real trouble. I'm not on tx yet, but I am getting the flu shot on 10/14. I am getting my last installment of the hep a and b vaccines in November when I will be on tx. I'm not worried about any of it and you shouldn't be either. My doc is a world-class researcher in the field of hep c at the Lahey Clinic in Boston and I trust him implicitly. I hope this helps.

I was offered the flu shot before I knew my vl had risen to 738,000 from 16,000 in 3 months, and I declined. Now I am just going to wear a mask if I need to go to crowded places.

I am too scared to get it now, have heard too many horror stories of taking shots on treatment...or off...

I don't think I have even had a flu shot in my 22 yrs.

I remember when I got the diphtheriatentnus shot at my pcp, and I had a horrible reaction that left me sick all day..

Shots terrify me, except the treatment shots..now..lol...odd...

i don't believe in flu shots either and will never get one.
