Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.

Ah, perfect, I book-marked it, thanks, Kramer~
My Hubs did the Abbot meds, the 450, 333, 265 and Ritonivir, plus 1,200 Riba, for 12 wks. in a 40 person study, and we are waiting on his 8 wk vl results, he was Und at his 4 wks post. Looks like 12 wks post Und is SVR, so I'm keepin my fingers crossed :)
He had very little side effects during his Trial, just a one point drop in his HGB which did cause fatigue, and a bit of dizziness.
Hope is on the way, people.

Oh, Kramer, this is fantastic! Up to date! Whew! I needed this to take with me to the hepatologist next week. Thank you!

For geno 1's I see: Sofosbuvir + Daclatasvir 12 or 24 (weeks) 98% SVR4. NO RIBA (same SVR results WITH Riba, so who wants it - well maybe those with cirrhosis?)

This led me to googling Daclatasvir. I knew I had read somewhere that some study had a 100% success rate with Sofos + Daclat. http://www.aidsmeds.com/articles/sofosbuvir_daclatasvir_1667_23846.shtml

This was mentioned: "The study did not include those with cirrhosis of the liver, although more than four in five of the participants had moderate fibrosis or higher."

Perhaps a "flawed" study; only 55 participants. But ... it IS promising regardless. I wonder when Daclatasvir is going forward to the FDA? And in what combo since Gilead (Sofos.) isn't playing anymore.

Oh, I should have written, "For geno 1's TX NAIVE I see..." Anyway, this is really really helpful!

Still seeing 2015 for geno 1's but ... I really think it (all orals) will happen for us before that. "A reasonable anticipation is that a genotype-specific, all-oral therapy for HCV genotypes 2 and 3 with sofosbuvir and ribavirin will be available by 2014. By 2015, genotype-1-specific therapies should follow..."

FOLLOW THE MONEY........

Yes Cat all the press releases are biased for sure but there has to be some lvel of credibility..
After a lifetime of no treatment, these this last year has been very exciting and "Christmas" is coming soon! :)
