Hepatitis C Support Group
Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
I will accept the fact of my disease, and pursue
the blessing of my recovery.
The treatment for Hep C was no picnic; some of us barely
made it through ,some made it with ease some are still
going through it and some it did not work. But ranting against the disease, lamenting what it has done to us, pitying ourselves for
the condition it has left us in. These things can only keep us locked
in the spirit of bitterness and resentment. The path to freedom and spiritual growth begins where bitterness ends, with acceptance.
There is no denying the suffering brought by Hep C and the
treatment. Yet it was this disease that brought us together,
without it we would neither have sought nor found the blessing of recovery. In isolating us, it forced us to seek fellowship. In causing
us to suffer, it gave us the experience needed to help others, help
where no one else was so uniquely suited to offer. In forcing us to
our knees, Hep C gave us the opportunity to surrender to the care
of a loving Higher Power.
We would not wish the disease on anyone. But the fact remains
that we already have this disease.

Still, I am hopful I will reach UND and eventually SVR. The success stories inspire. The failed stories teach me love and compassion. Both sides have a lesson.
I find myself much more empathic to others with cancer or debilitating diseases. I used to be afraid to talk to them, that I'd offend or say the wrong thing. Now, although I haven't walked in their particular shoes, I feel I have gained an insight that makes me more confident to reach out to them.
But..... I also agree, had I not had this disease, I would not by the grace of God, been led to seek out help with others who will become friends, 'some for life, some that come but for a moment in time' There is something to be said when you can talk to someone who knows exactly what you feel, instead of talking to someone (who has no ideal what you are going through,) but yet says, I know how you feel, or I feel your pain. Cause if they aint been through it, how the hell can they know what it feels like!
So, I myself am very happy to have found a group of people, who litterally say,..... I promise you, it is going to be ok. Hang in there, I'll help you get through this!!!
live with this disease that is so misunderstood and therefore we turn to each other. That is part of His way of helping us deal with this thing. He tells us that for every bad thing that happens in our lives, there is always a blessing.(para-phrasing) You guys are my blessing.You are all going through the same struggle I am, and guess what, here we are!!! I don't know about you all out there,but NOTHING can steal my joy, and i keep joy in my heart.
