It will be ok, you will do fine, not everyone has the same side effects. Some have none.are you 1a 1b or 2 or three? You usually have about 6 to 8 hours after your shot before you may feel any sside effects. If any. Usually its chills flu like, aches tired week. A lot of people take their shots on friday nite so they are good to go to work on Monday. Make sure you eat before taking your pills and drink fluids . barb

Thanks for the welcome. I am drinking a glass of water right now! I intend on taking my treatments on Sunday night. Sunday is my big day (I am a pastor.) That, hopefully, will give me time during the week to get my head together before standing in front of a couple hundred people on Sunday morning.

I have genome 3a. That's a 24week program, from what the doc is telling me. He doesn't like me too much. I think it's because I read everything I can get my hands on and expect him to do the same. I mean, we are talking about a potentially very serious condition...I don't want to be the best informed person in the room...right?

yes you are right, I like to be informed too. Some doctors dont like you questioning them, they just want you to hang on their every word. 24 weeks go fast. sunday night sounds like a good time,barb

Welcome to the site, Rob.
Sadly, you may well become more informed than your dr. You may want your dr to be the better informed but in many cases, it's usually the patient who has the vested interest and so does research on whatever is affecting their health.
Genotypes 2 and 3 are good ones to have as they treatment is only 24weeks as opposed to 48 or more for the other types, and the odds of clearing are also higher for types 2 and 3.
Be sure to ask any and all questions you may have because there is bound to be at least one person here who has asked the same thing or expecienced the same thing, and will have answers for you.

Welcome Pastor Rob. I agree with the others, you'll probably gather more valuable info on your own than the darn doctor will give you. That is why this is such a great sight. There is nothing better than talking w/ people who are going through it or have already "been there , done that." Best of luck to you!

I received my instructions on how to administer the shots this morning. First appointment I didn't have to pay for!

I was asked if I am a real pastor. I am. Perhaps not a good one, but a real one.

For crying out loud. Who would ask such a dopey question like, "Are you a real Pastor"? And I'm sure you're a good one. Welcome to the site. I'm an RN (Real Nurse) and know how some docs can be. Let it roll off your back. YOU are the primary member of your treatment team and need to be active, proactive, and aggressive. What's the worst he can do? Send you home to spend 24 weeks self-injecting a chemical that makes you nauseated, tired, and foggy? Heck, he's already done that! I'm also a newbie: genotype 2b, diagnosed a year ago, preparing to start 24 weeks of tx sometime in May, so I'll be following your progress. PLOW THE ROAD FOR ME!

Welcome Rob! Please post to us if you have questions or comments, that's what we are all here for. I never kept a journal myself. We used to have another pastor on here, but lost him. I always had him to send me his sermon of the week. I think he enjoyed doing it, and I definately enjoyed reading it. Maybe you could do the same??? I wish you well on your tx journey. Sunday night is the absolute best time for the injection. Cathie
