84 Weeks of TX??

Robbie was @ dr. yesterday. He will do 6 more weeks (will be 66 total) and then stop. Can't tolerate much more and needs 2 go back 2 work. Dr. called and lowered doseage from 0.5 to 0.3 - does anyone know why - dr. said it "wasn't bad" - what does that mean. Robbie stopped taking 5 pills/day in Jan. for a few weeks (still injecting) after being under for a few months - dr didn't know this. I don't know why he did this & he says neither does he. His viral count elevated slightly after that - dr. didn't know why (been doing all the tx from then and he's been under now for 6 straight month. He tested yesterday and will find out again in Oct. Dr. said yesterday 6 more months was due to "relapse" of virus in Jan. Thinking he should have told her what he did. Anyone else had to do 84 weeks straight? He is type 3, still smoker and beer drinker BUT still under. Please pray it stays that way.

You may want to talk to capnhardass.... he has done like 3 or 4 tx but i have never heard of 84 straight weeks......
Drinking and smoking can't be good..... need to give the ol liver a break..........

I was told if your drinking your doing tx for nothing, one is canceling out the other. This is what my doctor told me. Although I really dont know my self as I am not a doctor or nurse and I know all doctors say something different.

after that many months of torture id give up the booze just because id suffered so much tx'ing. big investment that may be for nothing if booze wrecks his liver after all. im not a health nut but damn , booze just isnt good for the liver.

84 weeks hell thats a long time. i did 48 weeks. my dr told me if your w,b,c gets to low he will lower the shot.he also told me that as long as you do 80% of shot your ok the shot lowers the vl and the pills help keep it low.he also said need to take all of your pills donot lower them.mabe if he would have took all his pills thing would be different.drinking is not the way to go or smoking you need to give tx your best shot.kenny

Drinking or smoking anything like that is not good on the liver. They have meds coming out in the future where you don't have to take it that long. I know for me I couldn't do it, but I speak for myself, nor would I want too.

Everyone I know who either smoked or drank cleared the virus with tx. Something to think about. I wonder if the doc knows he smokes and drinks? I am sober almost 3 yrs now and my life is way better from it.

yea mike, after all the tx dementia, mania and depression, i dont really want my brain bent up anymore. i take mental health more seriously. booze enflames my liver, feels bad, dont drink it.

not takeing meds reg drinking and smokeing.why do tx,tx will all this,slow death.Im sorry hope not to offend,but come on,I have brain fog and some confusion right now,Did i read this wrong..maybe there extending tx,because of this,type 3 from what my doc says thats 80-90 percent cure rate...My prayers are with you

wow, he's still drinking? clearing this virus is a war and he's really putting himself at a great disadvantage. not good. hope he will stop soon. if he hadn't been drinking he may not have had to do more weeks of treatment?

talked to a guy the other day who can't do treatment. his viral load was 18 million; he quit smoking AND eating fast food and his viral load went down to 10 million.

every little thing you do to make it easier for your body to kill this virus helps.

I'm confused - he's "still under"?
He was under, then VL elev, now under again. Dr wants more wks of tx tells me has not acquired the desired outcome.
Yes there is a number of wks to continue tx from time of first under.
Sorry, but if he's drinking on tx, he is not committed to beating this.
