Hey Kathy, Sorry you are having problems with your memory. Memory loss and complaints of "brain fog" are most definitely a side effect/symptom of HCV. Talk to your Doctor if you can, and I believe he could probably help you with this problem. I haven't had these problems with my tx, but I know tx can cause it too. I'll leave it the folks that have had problems with this, as they could probably give you more advice ast to what they did about it.
I just wanted to say it is a condition caused by HCV. I hope you get to feeling better, and your family has the patience in dealing with this!

I know my brain fog started after going on treatment. I am hoping it goes away.

It is a terrible thing to deal with...my heart goes out to you.

I found out from family and friends that I am not remembering things like I used to and it hurts! :(

i saw my GI yesterday, he tells me my fatigue/brain fog issues are not from hepc or TX. he said that being on tx would temporarily cause these problems but they would be well gone by now.

i am 2 years post tx. he put me on Ritalin. this ought to be interesting. Ritalin takes a couple of weeks to get into the system. i will update you if i had any luck with this.

my thyroid started going real low last Sept.
TSH level was at 0.01

come to think of it that is when my brain got all foggy!!!

so yes please check your thyroid it could be the culprit!

I've always had a horrible short term memory it runs in the family its always been pretty funny actually. Now I have something to blame the short term memory loss on the tx. I doubt my short term memory loss has anything to do with tx or hcv but its a great excuse. I just go yeap its the hep again. It could be a great excuse sometimes if needed. ha Don't be scared alot of people don't have horrible memory loss it depends.

i just looked up thyroid symtoms and here they are:
fatigue and weakness
low basal temp./cold intolerance
dry coarseskin
hair loss
cold hands and feet
weightgain
insomnia
constipation
depression
poor memory/forgetfullness
dementia
nervousness and tremors
immune system problems
heavy menstral cycles
i have most of those so could very well be the problem...just wanted to share those with you all..its very treatable...and thanks for the replys

I don't believe brain fog is from the virus, but rather from the meds.
Like that fatigue that comes on as the meds build up in your body, so did the forgetfulness/ absent mindedness start.

After tx, my fatigue disappeared and the brain came back and decided to work again.

Your thyroid definitely could be making your memory less effective. Also could be a problems with concentration rather than memory, I think that joe's dr. must have thought he was a grown up attention deficit kid, that's why he prescribed Ritalin. What a turned (turning?) on doctor. Really, honey we're just speculating. It could even be depression. Get thee to a health practioner, preferably a Dr. Mindy xxx
