Oh yeah. took Inferon injections once a week. Injections for anemia 2 x a week, Riba and I forget the name of the other drug.

Don't despair. There are already new drugs out and several more that will be on the market this year. There are many posts on here about the new drugs and there are many success stories.

My 3rd drug along with IFN/riba was Incivek (Teleprevir). I'm a non-responder...failed tx twice & done a total of 57 wks of IFN/riba based therapies. Hard to get news that tx failed or you relapsed for sure.

Some patients with advanced liver disease & tx failure might qualify for off-label tx with IFN/riba free Solvadi & Olysio. It is taking some people a bit of work to get the off-label approved by their ins. but it's an excellent tx that many here are already on. Some are just finishing their 12 wk course. Minimal side effects especially compared to what you've done in the past. I am told I do not have cirrhosis & my doc wants me to wait for IFN/riba free Solvadi/Ledispavir & final FDA approval date is Oct. 10, 2014 according to a post Onewonders shared today. Don't know if your condition is such that you can wait another 6 mo. & I'd sure go for off-label if you can get it!

Yes, there are new gentler treatments. What genotype are you?.

I am really sorry to hear this countrygirl! I did that same tx and know how brutal it is. I did soc tx before triple & the virus came back, so I know the feeling when the dr gives you the news.
Keep eating right & live as healthy as you can and see what they advise re: another tx option.

Havehope y can't you do RIBA.

That is a tough blow, sorry to hear that.....We all know the toll this takes on us.

I didn't make the full course and stopped tx and of course it came back.
Now I am on the new Sov/Riba for 6 months since I am 3a.

I went thru a long period when I failed the tx of beating myself up, and I had to stop. These new treatments are not bad, and I am taking 1200 Riba.....

Finally they are HITTING the RESEARCH HARD, as there are too many of us out there....

Hang in there - most tx now are 12 weeks, and they are focusing on others with even less time. The mental part and your emotions are what you have to try and get uplifted.

Totally sucks, I went through the same tx so I know how devastating this must be.... So sorry. Heal a bit, the newer meds will work for you I hope--- there are so many options for folks now, and the tx you did slowed the progression and gave your liver a break from the virus....

Depending on how far advanced the cirrhosis is, the Sovaldi/Olysio like allaboutliving said is very effective and has little side effects but will be later this year probably before it's widely available.

I can't wait and so I'm on Sovaldi/Pegasys/Ribavirin and my 4 week labs are undetectable. It's only a 12 week course of treatment, easier to do than the 48 wks...it sounds like you have genotype 1?

I know that was just awful relapsing after that grueling regimen. Are you in line got the new drugs without inf/RIBA? Soon it will be like treating or gonorrhea or syphilis. Just sayin.'
