As far as i know any treatment can be taken with cirrhosis. Which ones have the best rate of success in people with cirrhosis is something you'd have to research... Maybe someone else can point you in the right direction. But which tx works best depends mostly on your genotype.

Your profile says you just finished tx. Was it successful? Are u asking for someone else?

According to hcvguidelines.org under unique patient populations the recommendation for patients w/compensated cirrhosis is the same tx as recommended for patients without cirrhosis & that also includes those w/hepatocellular carcinoma.

Decompensated cirrhosis patients (moderate or severe hepatic impairment; CTP class B or C) should be referred to a medical practitioner with expertise in that condition (ideally in a liver transplant center). If the decision to treat has been made, the recommended regimen for patients of any genotype who may or may not be candidates for liver transplantation, including those with hepatocellular carcinoma is Solvadi plus weight-based RBV w/consideration of patient's creatinine clearance & hemoglobin level for up to 48 wks . This regimen should be used only by highly experienced HCV providers.

I am going to recommend that you wait until this fall, when the "all oral" medications hit the market. Interferon causes much damage to a crrhotic liver
There will be several combos, depending on your genotype. There is Sovaldi and Olysio, and another one put out by AbbVie, and one or two more, which include Ledispevir or Daclospevir (incorrect spelling, lol) But yeah, help is on the way!

what everyone else says, seems to be true. I have cirrhosis, and just started a 2nd round of treatment. Really it depends on a lot of factors, stage of cirrhosis, your bloodwork, and what your liver can handle.
And then there's the option to wait too, there are some exciting new drugs that are actually curing hep c.

CassieKate, where did you hear that interferon causes damage to a cirrhotic liver? I had read that interferon was a "maintenance therapy" for those who couldn't clear the hcv virus. I'm on interferon right now with ESLD. I do know that some people can go into decompensation on tx, but I blame that on the ribavirin. IDK.

I have fibrosis and cirrhosis and no prior HCV treatment as my dx is recent. I am type 2b, and expect my first delivery of meds today - Sovaldi and Ribavirin. My gastro docs only concerns prior to tx was anemia, cancer, or other hepatitis risks. All were negative, and had vax for Hep A and Hep B, so got the all clear.
