I'm not a lawyer but I once played one on television: here is my take based on my experience: The doctor or hospital is required by law to continue your treatment. With that said, if they no longer accept your insurance then you become a cash customer.
Next option is quickly find a doctor that accepts your insurance ans will pick you up mid treatment.
You may also contact the drug companies for assistance

Ask your Dr for a referral is also an option

I can only base on my personal experience. But my doc sent the full prescription in for pre approval to the specialty pharmacy which is tied into my insurance company.
So even if my doctor no longer accepts my insurance I will still get my meds.

That is horrible. You gotta 911 your doctor long before you run out....he is the one that will get it done, including side barring with associates or superiors to get you funded until this is resolved.
Call his nurse, she will convey the importance of this.

Once it is known fact that you are prescribed these meds, NO doctor wants the liability of "cutting you loose" and will prescribe at least enough to get you to your next doctor visit.
I have hope for your situation. Hang in there, your doctor has the resources to get you more meds, especially if he is attached to a hospital or belongs to an association. Most are.
One more thing, pharmacies love the profits from sovaldi. Call your pharmacy tomorrow and get them involved. HA! They will damn sure find you assistance like P.A.N. If they dont know what they are doing call BioPlus specialty pharmacy out of FL. They are hot to get paid and know how to get you your meds.

I think because my doctor did the initial calling, approval and fedex shipment verification happened in 7 days! I thought they were joking.

I agree that once the meds are called in for the prescribed time, they
will fill the scripts.

In meantime you should find a doc for labs, etc. First contact doc you had appt with to see what they are doing with patients like you.

This happened to me before with a different problem, and they made
sure I had enough meds to make it to a different doc, and then even
called in more when it took longer for me to get into a new doc.
Those nurse assist phone numbers they give from insurance companies do help you a lot too!!

You need help and another person like a nurse handling this for you!! The stress you do NOT need.
Sorry you have to go thru this.....

THey get mad at the ins company and the patients suffer.
It is the contracts they can't agree on and then the doc won't sign,, and patientsare in the wind

All good advice here from everyone. Just to recap: First and most important is your medication..pharmacy will have given you four weeks at a time so your refill should be due pretty soon...look at your medication bottles and see if they have refills on them...if you have 2 refills (that will give your 12 weeks) you can probably be pretty sure that auths were given by insurance for all 12 weeks so you should be O.K. with the most important thing here. Secondly basically you need a doc to order blood work most importantly hematocrit and hemoglobin (a measure of whether the ribavarin is making you anemic) any doc can order blood work. So if you have your meds with refills you can take a minute to sit down and breath and take it.from there. I believe your doc (as others have pointed out) has an ethical as well as legal obligation to refer you. If you are a patient at a hospital clinic the hospital should have a patient.aadvocate or a social worker to help you. You realize of course this is.all about money. .someone decided your insurance did not reimburse enough so they dropped your plan..this just makes smoke come out of my ears with anger.
