Hepatitis B virus infection may either be acute (self-limited) or chronic (long-standing). Persons with self-limited infection clear the infection spontaneously within weeks to months. There are currently several treatments for chronic hepatitis B that can increase a person's chance of clearing the infection.
However I might be able to lend you my experience dealing with Hep B.
If you are HBSAG positive you are infectious weather you are highly contagious or low level contagious levels are dependent on other variables. The advice about alcohol is extremely avoid alcohol.
Get these tests done as this will give a good indication of where your at
ALT and AST
Hbvdna quantative
Hbsag quantative
Hbsab quantative
Hbeag quantative
Hbeab qualative
Igm and Igg
Geno type test
Liver ultra sound
If you are in the acute stage its imperative to make sure you manage the situation the best you can to ensure you don't turn chronic.
To start with
*Make sure you get at least 8 hour sleep per night (avoid working night shifts)
*Completely avoid alcohol
*Avoid all fried food
*Make sure you hydrate adequately
*Avoid paracetamol and antibiotics if you can.
