Hemochromatosis is a hereditary disease characterized by improper processing by the body of dietary iron which causes iron to accumulate in a number of body tissues, eventually causing organ dysfunction. It is the main iron overload disorder. Hemochromatosis is notorious for having symptoms that are often initially misattributed to other diseases.

Hi, as you can see I am new to this board. I am from Puerto Rico. Hope we get to know each other in the near future. I have been diagnose with HC they did 2 hereditary test and they both came negative so I don't know what type I have. I have some symptoms people have on this board like fatigue which bother me and can't hardly do anything without getting fatigued but the symptom that bothers me the most is I can not be in hot weather for 30 seconds because I start getting dizzy, feel very fatigued, get very anxious and I can hardly breathe. Does anyone have the heat intolerance symptom? Hope to hear from you.

PS. Sorry for my spelling, but I have been living in Puerto Rico since I was 7 years old.

I just got diagnosed and I have not been able to tolerate the heat for a while.. the hemochomatosis cause diabetes in me so it may be the cause of the aversion to heat and clammy sweats.

My husband is the same as 4fabfelines,

he has HH and diabetes. When his blood sugar gets too low, he has the dizziness, weakness, fatigue, heat makes these worse. (his work is outdoors) He drinks a LOT of water and carries peanut butter crackers and, weather permitting, a candy bar. His diabetic med has been changed and those symptoms are gone, so far!

Nice to hear from you. All I have been diagnosed with is HH. Everything else is fine. But It took 5 years and 1 blood test of Ferreting levels to find out what I had after all these years of different tests. I have been to every Dr. you can mention that ends in logist but a gynecologist LOL. Nice to hear from you. Hope you feel better soon. Take care. Hugs and kisses in the cheek.

zzzdj hope your husband is feeling great. I have been taking Alpha Lipoic acid (100mg), Vitamin B12 (5000 mcg), Chromium Picolinate (500mg) and CO Q-10 (100mg in the morning and 100 mg at lunch time) I take them with breakfast. Th Alpha Lipoic acid you can take 3 or 4 pills a day I only take 1, B12 is 1 a day and the Chromium Picolinate I take 1 but it can be 2. The CO Q-10 I'm going to buy the 300mg one that I saw and will take one a day. I have been feeling great and it's been like two weeks I have been taking them. Thanks for your reply. Heat has bothered me for the last 15 years something horrible.. never put the two together..thought it was a hormone thing...but if it would never get get hot that would be great...I only go outside in the heat if I really HAVE to...

I've had an intolerance to heat since I was a child. Used to faint in church frequently one week then my sister faint the next.

However now that I've hypothyroidism along with HH, it's the cold I can't tolerate. Even though I've got the hypothyroidism under control, the cold affects me more than heat.

I'm no longer in the Bronx but in NC, Alexo. Weather here suits me fine. ;-)
