Hemochromatosis is a hereditary disease characterized by improper processing by the body of dietary iron which causes iron to accumulate in a number of body tissues, eventually causing organ dysfunction. It is the main iron overload disorder. Hemochromatosis is notorious for having symptoms that are often initially misattributed to other diseases.

I'm recently diagnosed and although my ferritin levels are not too crazy yet, my Dr suggested a liver MRI just to err on the safe side and rule out any issues. Went for my MRI yesterday, which went fine. Then I got a call from the radiologist's office today that they want me to come back for a second MRI. When I asked why, the receptionist said the Radiologist wanted to get some additional pictures at a different angle. Trying not to worry myself unnecessarily, but it's hard not to think that this means there was something of concern on the first MRI that they need to assess further. Has anyone else been called in for a 2nd MRI? Or does anyone know why they might need to do this? My next MRI is Monday, so luckily I don't need to wait long to find out.

MRI scans are used to check the health of your liver and the amount of iron deposition that you may have in your liver.
Not sure why they may want a second one so quickly, as I thought that the MRI was an all seeing scan, but I guess that they may just be being on teh safe side and checking from a different angle.
