Hemochromatosis Support Group
Hemochromatosis is a hereditary disease characterized by improper processing by the body of dietary iron which causes iron to accumulate in a number of body tissues, eventually causing organ dysfunction. It is the main iron overload disorder. Hemochromatosis is notorious for having symptoms that are often initially misattributed to other diseases.
I am sure that if I am wrong about it that someone will speak up. That is why I love this group so much. I am still learning as well .
ZZDJ do you take that much Vit. D daily??? Those must be really BIG pills!!!! Thanks again all.
Vit C is NOT a no-no. Good grief, it's necessary otherwise you can develop scurvy! It's just you don't take Vit C with meat since Vit C increases the iron absorption.
Because I have been reading the "Exposing The Hidden Dangers of Iron" by Dr. E.D. Weinberg I'm going to ask the dr next week if I should also take B complex.
You might want to read the Tylenol warning about your liver...

On page 71 of the book the "Iron Disorders Institute Guide To Hemochromatosis" they warn about Acetaminophen. Also, on page 80 of the same book, they warn about Aspirin because of the risk of stomach & intestinal tract bleeding in addition to an increase in cardiovascular event (heart attack & stroke).
Soooooooooooo, I guess we just need to ask our dr's which is the lesser of the evils and what might be an alternative for us????
