Hemochromatosis is a hereditary disease characterized by improper processing by the body of dietary iron which causes iron to accumulate in a number of body tissues, eventually causing organ dysfunction. It is the main iron overload disorder. Hemochromatosis is notorious for having symptoms that are often initially misattributed to other diseases.

I was diagnosed in 2014 with HH and had my family tested, it turned out that my daughter also has HH, and my wife and son are both carriers.
The interesting thing we have noticed is that not only do my daughter and I get colds that my son and wife dont seem to catch from us, but talking recently we have realised that both my daugther and I suffer from static shocks when walking around department stores that neither my wife or some seem to be affected by.
Could this be due to the HH and the extra iron that my daughter and I have in our tissues?
If so could a conductivity test be used as a pointer to HH?

My brain fog has certainly eased since I was de-ironed. I spent an hour in an MRI scanner in January having my Pelvis, back and both hips scanned as I have hip pains that wake me in the night and my walking has been affected both in stamina and the way I walk. 18 months ago I could walk ok and as far as I wanted.
I now have to see my normal GP as my results came back with some wear and tear but I don't need a hip replacement thank goodness.
The problem is getting an appointment with the right doctor at the practice.

I know what you mean about getting to see the right doctor. Since I felt unwell this time since Nov last year the only doctor that was willing to listen has not left the practice. Need to find one that will continue to take this seriously as the last one did. I had an MRi for shoulder and arm pain i have been getting on and off for the last few years That they said was related to me sitting at a desk all day. maybe it was this all along.
What can they do for you hips, or like me just pain killers or Physio?
A few years before I was diagnosed in 1998, I was at work entering data in a database on a computer. I would click on the "save" button and then looked at the page where I had entered the data. No data. I called over the manager (CPA firm) to trouble shoot. He entered the data and clicked on "save". Looked at page and there was the data.
Thought I was doing the data entries incorrectly, the manager guided me through the correct steps. Same thing happened. No data on the data page when I did the entering.
After I was diagnosed in 1998, I was working at a different firm and my computer would go wacky at times. Since I was under treatment for HH (I would get phlebbed and then go to work), any time my iron was up, the computer would go wacky. My manger at the time couldn't believe until she did notice the difference when my iron levels were lower.
I do have problems with static electricity. Maybe that was the problem with the computer. LOL
From as early as I can remember I have been startled by little shocks from cars in particular and other large metal objects. I happens really fast and is often accompanied by little cracking sound. Nobody else I knew experienced this and I wasn't always believed.
I have also gone through so many watches I have lost count. After a small number of months they pack up, and sometimes only after a couple of weeks. I use a computer a lot and have not noticed any particular problems. I have often set off the exit system when leaving stores,although I would not have thought this could be due to HH.
Since my ferritin and transferrin saturation readings have gone down to normal I have not noticed any shocks.

I googled about electric shocks & this chat came up.
I get them really bad at times when touching certain things like metal or supermarket trolleys that I can scream out and jump. It’s interesting to see others do too. Also interesting about the watches as this happens to me. How strange!!!!
