Serum Iron high after maintenance phlebotomy

my ferritin level is down to low normal levels, but my serum iron level is high
any thoughts?
any thoughts?

My ferritin is normal But my iron jumps all over the place, I think it depends on the diet a few days before the test and how quickly we absorb iron.

Hi there! I haven't been on this forum for a very long time. I've been googling in regards to my numbers and thought I would check in here and see what I could find. Gidget, I've been in maintenance now for about a year and actually went without a phleb for 10 months. What prompted my recent phleb was my Serum Iron which was up to 39. My doc graphs everything and after going through the graphs he is more concerned about my TSAT now. Both my ferritin and Serum Iron are good now but my TSAT has been very high, now I've been trying to find out more about being iron avid, but the pattern doesn't really fit. Any ideas? I've been low carbing for about 7 months. I do monthly tests (fasting) for Ferritin, TSAT, Serum Iron, CRP and TIBC. One thing I learned is if Serum Iron is above 30 they won't test for TSAT and TIBC. How have you been doing? I think the last time I was on this forum you were doing phlebs every three weeks? or was it every 3 months?

Iggy, I am phlebbing every Three weeks. I have my ferritin checked every third phleb, I do not use TSAT at all, I have never even tested it. The last time I got tested, my ferritin was 24, my iron was102 and my Hematocrit was 39. All good numbers for me. I am doing very well. Feel good and am very active. I find that staying on my phlebotomy schedule and not letting my numbers fluctuate is what keeps me in good physical health. Have no facts on that but I am felling great.

My numbers do the same thing. My doc follows ferritin number. I keep ferritin under 50 but prefer to be closer to 30. I am in maintenance and still trying to figure out my pattern. I have gone 6 months with no phleb but I think every 4 is probably better for me. I wonder the same thing as my iron is pretty high right now but my ferritin is low normal and I don't feel as good as I have in the past.
