Hemochromatosis is a hereditary disease characterized by improper processing by the body of dietary iron which causes iron to accumulate in a number of body tissues, eventually causing organ dysfunction. It is the main iron overload disorder. Hemochromatosis is notorious for having symptoms that are often initially misattributed to other diseases.
Ok, so I am trying to understand how each person't sat % differs. I don't have very high ferritin (209) and my iron is at 157 but my sat % is at 90%. I don't understand and for those of you who have been in treatment for some time, when did you notice your sat % start to decrease?
We are all different. My saturation is 32 and ferratin started at 1647. Down now to under 1000 and saturation still about the same. I have baffled the liver specialists but have tested positive for hemochromotosis. Just read all the discussions and you will see that we all suffer in different ways. Take care.

your ferritin is 209 and your Iron is at 157 and sat % is at 90% ok so here it is..
your Iron is what is circulating in your blood (veins) so if it is at 157 and your sat is 90% it means that 90% of your iron level will be stored and become your ferritin ..which means that you need to have some phelbs before your 209 becomes 400 or 500.. soon
Yes, your T-sat will fall with phlebs, however unlike Ferritin that falls by about 6-9% with each phleb T-sat will remain high (normally) until your ferritin is maybe about 300 or so, then it will suddenly fall. Mine just did exactly this a month ago, it fell to 26% within a week, it had bounced around between 66% & 80% for the last year, closer to 80 mostly, (I was diagnosed at 97%, ferritin 2300).
However I expect it to bounce around a little now in a lower range, until I'm down to Ferritin of below 50, my ferritin is now about 250.

Sorry by the time I'd read all the other posts I'd forgotten your ferritin is low already. But I believe your sat should still fall quite suddenly at some point . . . . probably within a few phlebs. But everyone is a little different so hard to say exactly, one thing is certain it will fall with treatment
