It is the main iron overload disorder. Hemochromatosis is notorious for having symptoms that are often initially misattributed to other diseases.

restless legs

Does anyone have restless legs?When i sit down or lay down most of the time at night.I have a suggestion for some of you guys im 54 and things didnt work like they used to i know im not 18 any more but i got the doctor to test my testosderone it was a little low but i had all the symtoms of low t.I tried testoderone gel did not like it so for the last year ive been having testoprel pellets inserted.It makes a world of difference in energy labido and mood just told yall so maybe that will help someone if you have any questions let me know

Hi Sully, I get restless legs, when sitting and when in bed. I find that if I take a couple of Panadol it seems to help. Mine may not be as bad as yours.

Panadol contains paracetamol. In the UK it can be bought from a local pharmacy shop and most supermarkets.

Ibuprofen can also be helpful - I take it on rare occasions that I can't sleep and I find it easier to relax after around 20 minutes.

I get restless legs if I sit for a long time - which I do more now as my hips and feet hurt when I walk more than around 5 minutes. I just shake my legs or get up and do something and the restlessness stops.

The bigger problem for me is that since my ferritin levels were elevated I get bad cramps and have torn a calf muscle in each leg a couple of times. The cramps are less problematic when my ferritin levels are below 50 but I still have a problem with easily tearing my calf muscles.

Hi Sreetsully and all....I use Quinine and have for years and years. First it was legal *and* cheap because when I lived in Hawaii, on my "vacations" to CA where our daughter live, I would totally stock up on the stuff at Longs (now CVS). After getting transferred (or rather kicked out of Hawaii for 10 years, we brought in a parrotlet (thus my name here) and the AG Dept. was going to euthanize him if we didn't take him back to CA. So, we just upped and moved; worse day of my life, let me tell you. Luckily, we had kept out home but when I went to buy my Quine, guess what? It was now illegal! I pretty much in a panic till I went to web pages. No Mexico for me but I did find them in Canada till they shut down and now have an excellen t page out of New Zealand. To give you an idea of price; when I checked with the drug stores here in CA (back to be legal) a box of 28 cost over $300. Well, that was out so my New Zealand guys were 1/4 of that price so I always stock up. I have never found anything like it to work...takes about 5 - 10 minutes. They come in 200 or 300 mil. I take the latter. Sometimes, my legs are so bad that I have taken 2 but very seldom. Take them just before I go to bed around 9, read a little then konk out. It's still very hard to get a prescription from a doctor not to mention the price. Heck, most of them are so stupid they still think they illegal so I don't even mess with them. I have had cramps in my leg so bad I had to call my daughter to rub them out so I could walk. Hope this helps. Parrotlet

When first diagnosed with celiac I had restless leg bad, as in every night. I wanted to scream from it. I started taking extra potassium and magnesium vitamins which really helped. Took several weeks but the R.L. went away. If I ever have trouble now, especially when going to sleep, I put a cold can (like soda, beer, whatever you might have) behind my jerky legs. It sort of freezes that spasming muscle.
