Hemochromatosis is a hereditary disease characterized by improper processing by the body of dietary iron which causes iron to accumulate in a number of body tissues, eventually causing organ dysfunction. It is the main iron overload disorder. Hemochromatosis is notorious for having symptoms that are often initially misattributed to other diseases.
Good news is ferratin is at 40! Total Iron 126, transferratin 261, and saturation 32%. iron and transferrartin were both flagged as too high. Would I do another phelb? This test was taken before my phelb. So would this pull my levels down to normal?
I would get new labs before doing another phleb. You're at the border on whether to phleb again.
What's your latest hemoglobin? You don't want to become iron anemic.
