I take percocet and it really does help , I use to take the darvocet also years ago but they made my stomach hurt too so I quit taking them years ago so glad I did after seeing the recalls . My doctor says that the percocet is safe for me to take knowing the facts of my hh ,I am not totally convinced but for now I have no other options .

I take percacet for my pain. The only thing about percacet though is it is a narcotic, and narcotics can be dangerous. They can be highly addictive. They gave me a little stomach pain, but everybody reacts different to medicines. Anti inflamitory meds didn't work for me.

Also, the thing about percacets is you can really only take them at night. You can not drive while on percacets or really do much. You feel loopy and funny.

What I do is I normally take some 500 miligram ibpeupropin during the day, and a percacet at night to sooth the pain.

Good luck though, keep searching through different meds until you find the right one that works for you. Just like I said, be VERY careful with percacets. Narcotics can led to bad news. Just don't abuse them!

I am taking vicodin, but am very leary of doing so. I know it is an opiate and is very addicting. I take one in the morning. Then either 1/2 in the evening or reg tylenol. Some days it helps and sometimes it doesn't touch the pain.

Thanks . I was told that pecocet may be the better choice. As I only use them when the pain is extreme, I don't worry about getting addicted. It would freak you out at what Dr's have put me on for all kinds of not sure what the heck is wrong, so we will mask it with, Valium, Lebrium.......... The Military had me "addicted " to Valiums (30mg per day) for 1.5 years. Oh wait you can't get addicted if you take them as perscribed right!!! ? Wrong!!! Needless to say I am extremely leary of any narcotics any dr perscribes. But thanks for the heads up Brittany. Your wise beyond your years... with the help of all you folks I just may be able to learn how to live with this . Tanks sooooo much!!

oh klmartin I am not sure but doesn't Vicodin and Tylenol have Ibupropyn in it. I am not sure for sure but I think we are suppose to avoid that at all cost as it is hard on the liver??? I'll have to look that up again as my memory isn't what it once wasn't. oh yeah forgive my spelling. it sucks. sorry to all.

I take Opana ER 7.5mg. I take one every 12 hours for joint pain associated with HH. They are time released over the twelve hours and work very well for me. I used to take Loritab 7.5mg, which worked fine to relieve pain immediately, but I was eventually sent to a pain management doctor that prescribed the Opana ER. On rare occasions, when I'm in more pain than usual, I still take a Loritab for breakthrough pain relief, but I'm very happy with the Opana ER, and wish I was prescribed it sooner. It's a fairly new drug and has only been around for a few years.

I was on Darvaset for years. I have recently been sent to a pain mgmt clinic. I am now on Percocet 7.5 and Duragesic Pain Patch. If I take the Percoset during the day I get real dizzy and kinda queezy. So I only take at night but the patch is on 72 hours and then a new one is put on. I take Advil during the day as needed.

Thanks again folks. I'll yak at my Dr and see what he will run with .. I asked him for something to help with my PTSD, depression etc. . He put me on Seraquel .. I didn't make 4 days on it and I was literally turned into a zombie. I quit that then and there. He was a little upset. Oh well. I'll see what he says. I do have to work, at a hospital, and I also am a Photographer, so I kinda like to be present (mentally) to take care of stuff.... Again thanks

Over the counter meds are included. I take enteric coated meds when possible (like aspirin) b/c it helps reduce any stomach issues.

Before being diagnosed and before getting de-ironed, when I absolutely HAD to take something for the pain ( I'm assuming we are talking joint pain ), I used all kinds of different otc kinds, prescribed kinds..nothing helped much. Then I was put on Celebrex. I told my Doc I didn't want it, I was a lil afraid of pills anyway, and I hadn't really heard any good things about Celebrex. She said " I would prescribe it for my Mother, my Mother takes it". Ok then, I'll try it.
It was a life saver for me...
I would gladly take it if the pain got that bad again!

wildkat=, do you have to take the celbrex every day or can you take it as needed with good results.?? I am bad at following direction when I don't agree with them.. Tylenol is a BIG NO NO for a person with HH.

I took the Celebrex....one every day.

I used to take Tramadol, which I hated as it (also an opiate) made me fuzzy-headed and disorientated (I mean more than normal!). I started taking Celebrex on Wildkat's advice (ta, Kat). It did the trick, mostly (except there are times when NOTHING would work, I think), and no fuzzy head either!

I just had a bunch of tests and labs thursday. due to some unknown major pain up under my right rib, kind of where ones gallbladder or liver or kidney stones or...... he couldn't tell why I was in so much pain and wouldn't perscribe anything for pain. I was taking darvacet but it has been recalled. not the best of timing as I am on vacation in San Diego visiting my daughter and grandson. I'll just have to tuff it out . you all take care.
