Hemochromatosis is a hereditary disease characterized by improper processing by the body of dietary iron which causes iron to accumulate in a number of body tissues, eventually causing organ dysfunction. It is the main iron overload disorder. Hemochromatosis is notorious for having symptoms that are often initially misattributed to other diseases.

How can I quickly replenish some iron to my blood? last ferritin test was 8, I feel so tired. I lowered the level from 900 to 50, which the hem said would be good for me. Looks like there was a lab error and I was overbled. How much iron is removed with each phlebotomy? Which food would help build up my iron level?

It's hard to tell how far the ferratin will drop with each phlebotomy, sometimes a lot.
I had a ferratin level of 6855 at diagnosis and have been on maintenance for about 3 years now. My drs want me to be at a level of 50 or less and, very occasionally, it drops quite a bit lower. It is annoying to be so tired but my energy usually comes back up after a week or so. A good steak might help, but not too often.
