Hemochromatosis is a hereditary disease characterized by improper processing by the body of dietary iron which causes iron to accumulate in a number of body tissues, eventually causing organ dysfunction. It is the main iron overload disorder. Hemochromatosis is notorious for having symptoms that are often initially misattributed to other diseases.
Had a high ferrin of 3000 and after 2 phlebs down to 1400. Went to get my third but my glucose dropped to 118 and they wouldnt pull blood as per my doctors orders. Any body have their glucose drop after a phleb. This new patient is freaking out a bit and any insight would be great.
My HH consultant said that my haemoglobin level is usually the high end of average. I remember that I have been told this in the past also.
Maybe it is something that is in our individual make-up?
I have asked for a chart of all of my blood results over several years and can see that the consultant is right - my haemoglobin level has always been at the top end of average.
It may be worth seeing if you can have a print-out of your blood results over a significant period of time and check yours - and ask your consultant as well when you next have a check-up.

No, I didn't do anything special to get the hemoglobin down, just the week off. But, that said, I have been all over the charts with reactions to the blood letting. I've passed out, puked on my phlebotomist, had chest aches, body aches, weak, all over the board. I have trouble with very low blood pressure after the draw so now they give half a bag of saline drip to rehydrate with second half right after the draw. SIgh. What an adventure ride this HH is!
Goodness me - you have had a rough time of it. I hope it becomes easier for you over time.
