Hemochromatosis Support Group
Hemochromatosis is a hereditary disease characterized by improper processing by the body of dietary iron which causes iron to accumulate in a number of body tissues, eventually causing organ dysfunction. It is the main iron overload disorder. Hemochromatosis is notorious for having symptoms that are often initially misattributed to other diseases.
There is a myriad of issues that come along with the disorder. I have the following:
Heart palpataions
Sleep problems
Joint pain
Eczema (never started until 4 months before I was diagnosed)
Sluggishness
Memory problems
Swollen Liver
Before you are treated everything is worse. I had lived so long feeling so bad that I was used to it. Now I can tell when I need a phlebotomy.
