Hemochromatosis is a hereditary disease characterized by improper processing by the body of dietary iron which causes iron to accumulate in a number of body tissues, eventually causing organ dysfunction. It is the main iron overload disorder. Hemochromatosis is notorious for having symptoms that are often initially misattributed to other diseases.

Hyper sensitivity to sun

Since my iron levels have been elevated, I've had hyper sensitivity to sun exposure. Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi Laughalittle

I am not sensitive to the sun, but I do tan very easily, so much so that when we go to Spain, Spanish people often think that I am Spanish after my first week and speak to me in Spanish.

I think that it goes with HH, although it seems to affect some of us more than others

Take care and keep that sun block on...
