It is the main iron overload disorder. Hemochromatosis is notorious for having symptoms that are often initially misattributed to other diseases.

How long does it take for the %sat to decrease

I had to give blood at the bank close to a week ago. Took iron panel yesterday and my ferritin came down from 231 to 209 but my iron only came down from 266 to 257 and my sat % stayed the same. My hemoglobin, however, came down from nearly 15 to 13.2. My initial test was about a month ago and i gave a pint a week ago. In your experiences, how long does it take to get the numbers down, including sat %? Also, how fast do you load?

hi jb; we all load and our numbers go up and down at times.. if you are c282y genotype, it is my understanding that they tend to load faster. many here have numbers that jump all over the place don't get too worried. there is a formula to calculate the answers..
i think it is at ironoverload.org, you will find all kinds of good info for you and your doc, if needed.
good luck and don't get discouraged, your numbers aren't that high.
