Hemochromatosis Support Group
Hemochromatosis is a hereditary disease characterized by improper processing by the body of dietary iron which causes iron to accumulate in a number of body tissues, eventually causing organ dysfunction. It is the main iron overload disorder. Hemochromatosis is notorious for having symptoms that are often initially misattributed to other diseases.
Not sure what to make of these labs as I paid for them myself and haven't reviewed with my doctor yet. Can someone help me make sense of this? From what I have reviewed I'm not sure if this constitutes HH but my Ferritin has me a little confused.

long story short had recent blood work taken for tsh which is a .14(not good)mind you, but I noticed after giving blood I felt noticeably better?! Googled y I would feel this way and HH came up which is why I ordered these labs myself. My doc in previous meetings about my health just brushes me off, including my current TSH reading.
In the UK you can ask for a copy of your blood test results and the normal range is shown beside the test and you can see if your results for each test falls within the normal range.
If you think you have HH you should consult a haematologist who will order a genetic test if the results indicate you may have HH.
The key resutls for HH are serum ferritin - which should be below 5o and transferrin saturation - which should be between 20 % and 50%.
