Hemochromatosis is a hereditary disease characterized by improper processing by the body of dietary iron which causes iron to accumulate in a number of body tissues, eventually causing organ dysfunction. It is the main iron overload disorder. Hemochromatosis is notorious for having symptoms that are often initially misattributed to other diseases.
HI everyone. I saw my Doctor last monday. He has told me to start taking Pariet Tablets. 1 per day. This has been reported to reduce Iron in the body. This drug is more commonly used for Reflux or heartburn etc. My iron levels are now in normal range. I had a venesection last week so am not due for another for 4 months. Have stretched this out for an extra month this time. See how that goes. So starting to take the Pariet Tablets and will see if this makes any difference to Iron. My Doctor is hoping that I will not need to have anymore venesections. Iron levels will still need to be monitored, but if this works it will be so much easier and under control. Ask your Doctor about this. I have not seen anything written about this when I look up Pariet tablets.
For those who are new to this sight and just starting their journey. I am sorry to say your symptoms do not go away, they may not be as bad. I am of the opinion that once the Iron has done its dirty work to your joints etc you are stuck with it. Different things then come into play. I have Plantar Faccitis, Psoriactic Arthritus, Rheumtoid Arthritus, Fatigue and still joint pain. Maybe not as bad but still there. Good luck with your journey.

In Australia having your blood taken for Hemochromatosis is called Venesection. My Iron levels were 2003 and it has taken 18 months to get them into normal range, 22 litres of blood. I am now on maintenance. I was having my blood taken every 3 months. I have stretched this out to 4 months next time to see what it gets to. This is why it is a goof time to try this drug. If it works it means I may not need to have venesections anymore. Will still need to be tested to manage levels. How good would that be to just take a tablet and not have your blood taken?
