Hemochromatosis Support Group
Hemochromatosis is a hereditary disease characterized by improper processing by the body of dietary iron which causes iron to accumulate in a number of body tissues, eventually causing organ dysfunction. It is the main iron overload disorder. Hemochromatosis is notorious for having symptoms that are often initially misattributed to other diseases.
I also have both HH and lyme. Because of the lyme my body couldn't tolerate full phlebs so the take half 250ml each time. The first phlebotomy I ended up in the ER for almost passing out and they gave me a bag of fluids to top me off. Since having lyme I have a hard time staying hydrated do you find this as well. I have found that pain has lessened since phlebs but still have some lyme symptoms.
Originally when I was first diagnosed with lyme they found that I was a carrier for HH only one gene. I was told not to worry as I was only a carrier but since cld I have HH. Did you have a similar experience?
Thank you for posting this a friend sent it to me. I wish no one ever had either disease but it's good to know I'm not the only one with both.
