Hemochromatosis is a hereditary disease characterized by improper processing by the body of dietary iron which causes iron to accumulate in a number of body tissues, eventually causing organ dysfunction. It is the main iron overload disorder. Hemochromatosis is notorious for having symptoms that are often initially misattributed to other diseases.
Good morning all,
I wanted to run something by you haemachromatosis sufferers out there. I was diagnosed 2 years ago and after many venesections, got to a good iron level and now give blood via blood donation. Which is good as I have rare blood so someone benefits. All was plain sailing and in recent months I have noticed various aches, pains, soreness etc. I won’t say what as I’m sure we have all read forums and other help pages. What I want to know is what you guys are individually experiencing to see if I need to get back to the docs or just man-up and get on with it. I’m new to this forum and wanted to find fellow sufferers and “compare notes” anyway it’s work time in the UK so I will check back in later today. Bye for now
It's quite frustrating as symptoms are so varied and vague for HH. My knee joints and back have ached for years and i'm pretty convinced it's down to the HH. The venesections didn't improve that unfortunately.
Also, now it's getting colder, aches are worse, but can't harm to get checked over by the docs since it sounds like a recent thing.
