Hemochromatosis is a hereditary disease characterized by improper processing by the body of dietary iron which causes iron to accumulate in a number of body tissues, eventually causing organ dysfunction. It is the main iron overload disorder. Hemochromatosis is notorious for having symptoms that are often initially misattributed to other diseases.

Diet for Hemochromotosis

I have several issues. Dr wants me to go on a diet, lower my cholesterol, lower my iron, told me I have stage 3 renal desease and my


liver is swollen. The foods I need to help one, isn't good for the other. What a dilemma!

That's a lot to deal with. For all of those issues you might want to consider researching a paleo/gluten free diet. That alone will help with the cholesterol, iron etc.

I would like to belp, but I don't know if this will be helpful. I just bought the Hemochromatosis Cookbook, available on Amazon. The science behind the food. Simple everyday recipes. Perhaps gou can adjust them to meet your needs.

Ask the doctor for a referral to a registered therapeutic dietician. Check them out. Do they know or be willing to learn about your diagnoses?

Find a registered therapeutic dietician via Internet search. Call the dietician and ask about HH, etc.
