Hemochromatosis is a hereditary disease characterized by improper processing by the body of dietary iron which causes iron to accumulate in a number of body tissues, eventually causing organ dysfunction. It is the main iron overload disorder. Hemochromatosis is notorious for having symptoms that are often initially misattributed to other diseases.
Can HH cause or aggravate constipation or digestion? I am having some trouble with both and just wondered...
That was one of my major complaints before getting diagnosed, the more my Ferritin came down, the better things got. I have always, all my life, had constipation and Gasto problems. I am now de-ironed, and have absolutely no problems in that area. For me..it was caused by the HH, my Doc told me that and gave me prescriptions for it. I no longer need anything to help. I guess just the iron gone was all that was needed.

I had two feet of colon removed in April. I had no symptoms other than constipation and was very near to being toxic. I was totally collapsed.
Anytime you have changes in bowels or stools, check with your doctor.
