Hemochromatosis is a hereditary disease characterized by improper processing by the body of dietary iron which causes iron to accumulate in a number of body tissues, eventually causing organ dysfunction. It is the main iron overload disorder. Hemochromatosis is notorious for having symptoms that are often initially misattributed to other diseases.

At what levels did your doctor reduce the frequency of your phlebs from weekly to a longer time period e.g. fortnightly?

I stopped going weekly when my ferritin hit twenty. I tried to go once a month after that and it wasn't enough so I go every three weeks now. Have for 6 years.

when my number went below 300, my doc had me going every two weeks until it was under 50, now im monthly for the next coupleof months to see if it holds at 50.

When my SF hit 50., the doctor extended it to monthly and then every three to four months depending on what the SF was.

My saturation rate was my problem. I normally get them done weekly, but now that my saturation rate is around 50, he has me coming in once a month for phelbs now.

I'm surprised it was so low before you went off weekly phlebs, my doc gave the impression it would be a gradual reduction. Well I will see him in a couple of weeks for the first time in over 6mths!
