Hemochromatosis Support Group
Hemochromatosis is a hereditary disease characterized by improper processing by the body of dietary iron which causes iron to accumulate in a number of body tissues, eventually causing organ dysfunction. It is the main iron overload disorder. Hemochromatosis is notorious for having symptoms that are often initially misattributed to other diseases.
It will come down towards the end of your phlebotomy treatment, normally once most of the iron has been pulled out of your other organs etc it will drop, e.g. when your ferritin falls to somewhere below about 300, mine only dropped when my ferritin went below 100). However during most of my treatment my percentage sat was in the 80.s, even dropped to 63% a couple of times, but bounced straight back up to the 80's.
It indicates your body is trying to transport iron, i.e. you probably have too much iron
