Well i have decided to travel from florida to new york by car.I am not going to fly due to my pulmonary hypertension.Any suggestions to make the trip easier ? There is a new baby in the family and would love to spend the 4th with family.

My map says that you will have about 20 hours driving. I really think that you will be better going by plain. Has your doctor forbiden you to fly ? Last year I did a two hours, commertial plain trip with a relative that has Pulmonary Hipertension and Pulmonary enphisema and is 24/7 linked to oxygen without any problem.

If you drive I see, tiredness and dehydratation issues linked to BB if you take them that it will translate in lack f attention an unnecesary risks.. In addition your fluid retention will be higher and so will your respiratory issues if you have any.

Anyway, you are the only one who knows how you feel.

If you decided to go, I suggest it at least 2 days with a long sleep , and if you are on BB do not drive by nigth and sot at easat every 3 hours. Plan for extra diuretics and be sure you are properly hydrated.

I think the big thing is not to try to get there in a hurry. Take two to three days, driving no more than eight hours. Stop every couple of hours and walk around a bit. The advantage of traveling by car is you can take a cooler with ice thingies and your own food so you don't have to worry about sodium. We just went on an overnight trip. We packed a container of tuna fish salad in the cooler, and put it in the mini-fridge in the hotel overnight. We put a couple of slices of bread in an air-tight baggie, some homemade (low sodium) cookies, and some lightly salted chips in a grocery bag. Loaded it all up again the next morning with the tuna in the cooler with the refrozen ice, and it was fine for lunch. We also took some low sodium breakfast rolls so I didn't have to be concerned about sodium in the motel breakfast food. I take fifteen pills spread out over four times a day but I found a three-slot pill holder at CVS so I could fix up three of my sessions at a time to keep in my purse. Focus on having a good time and just be a little careful and all should be well. Enjoy that new baby!

Thanks guys I am seeing my pulmonary tomarrow and my cardio before leave and if I get the ok ,off on another great adventure.Thanks for the tips.My hubby just says he is not up to the trip so he will be home holding the fort down.He just had quad bypass in september.Cannot wait to get my hands on that new baby and see my people.
