Swollen right foot

My husband has been having a chronic right foot swelling for months.  His doctor told him he needs to wear compression stockings and told him (without even doing any tests) it was his veins in the leg causing it.  I'm worried it may be heart failure.  Can heart failure cause only 1 foot to swell?

yeah CHF can manifest itself on one side. I frequently have edema on the right side only. Does he have any other symptoms such as short of breath, light headed, have to sleep propped up, cough, tired, weight gain of 3 pounds in 1 day or 5 pounds in a week, chest pain?

You really haven't said why you suspect heart failure, is he a heart patient? You might try going to the ER or Urgent care and see if someone will give him a serious once over, especially if he's experiencing some of those other symptoms.

I remember going in and they thought my only problem was pnuemonia, turns out I was having a heart attack, had Congestive Heart Failure, failing mitral valve, and assorted other problems they overlooked. You have to go with your gut and fight.
