hi everyone...i just needed to ask a few questions hope you don't mind...my friend who is about fourty six was just diagnosed with congestive heart failure...she's convinced it is an imediate death sentence...i don't think so but i could use some feedback...she's had a problem with crack cocain, overweight and has anger issues...i don't know what to tell her and i am very concerned...she also doesn't have any health insurance...any feedback would be apreciated very much.

CHF isn't the death sentence it used to be. Science has come along way to insure that we can lead a normal lifestyle. The truth is you gotta do your part. Which is more important warchhing your grandkids grow up or continue to poison your body with grugs and alcohol. It really is a choice. Not a choice of circumstance but a choice of lifestyle.With the help of todays medicine even the local clinics have access to life saving drugs. Theres just not a whole lot you can't do. I would take mountain climbing out of the equastion but you could certainly your grandkids to the park and spend some quality time with the instead of finding ways to ignore them. Life is the choices that we make

She should go to a clinic and get some type of specialist referral at a hospital that treats a large volume of cardiac cases. They will have their hands on the latest therapies to help her. She has to deal with her cocaine problem and go on a diet to lose weight immediately. She should stay away from fast food as well as high sodium food. This is not a death sentence, it's not a walk in the park either, but it can be controlled. She should also consult a doctor about an appropriate exercise program. The best to your friend.

last time i talked to her she was chewing on some salty country ham...just don't understand how alot of people have to almost die before they take they're health seriously...wish you all the best

I had an amphetamine addiction,although I had quit for nearly a year, i then got heart failure.... if your friend has not had a heart attack etc then it is probable that she could get a large proportion of her heart function back..
However if she continues to use drugs she will be continually putting her heart under immense strain...
She doesnt really have an option... she has to give up the drugs... its those that are the death sentence, not the heart failure....
I hope she heeds the advice given....not easy but the choice is hers....

Hi,
Just hoping that your friend realized that she needs to take care of herself. Usually for medications, the doctors always have samples that they give you if you don't have any health insurance.
