Thanks for the warning. I knew about the poinsetts's but did not realize that chocolate is poisin to them. Poor things... I love...chocolate! Glad I'm not an animal. LOL!

Actually, your pets shouldn't eat anything but pet food anyway!

Also be careful about decorations. String stuff (tinsel, garlands, yarn, ribbon) can get tangled and strangle a pet. Most ornaments can get broken and have sharp edges to cut. Electrical wire, from all the lights and stuff is dangers too...either from being chewed on, also strangling, or burning (those little bulbs can get rather hot!)

I have a door to my living room, so I keep the cats out during the holidays. They're only allowed in the bedroom and office area until after New Years.
If they do go in there, I keep a close eye on them. Never leave them unsupervised! They're like little kids...can get into trouble in a split second! LOL

I wanted to mention that if your cat likes to chew on plants, the best thing is to get them some grass to chew on. Cats will chew on plants if they have upset stomachs, it makes them throwup. It is almost impossible to keep cats out of rooms because they don't like to be restricted and will manage to slip past someone at the first opportunity. If you have high shelves or hanging plants that is the ticket. Cats are vary strong willed, you can't make them do anything they want to do, it's just the feline personality.

I used to have cats several years ago and they took a fancy to some chubby santa ornaments on the christmas tree, so better to be careful about the kind of ornaments you use. I only put-up half of our 7 ft. artifical tree on a table. Be sure to gather-up any ribbons that you have around, kitty likes them too. Keep out of reach of children applies to cats also.
