Heart attack is a serious, sudden heart condition usually characterized by varying degrees of chest pain or discomfort, weakness, sweating, nausea, vomiting, and arrhythmias, sometimes causing loss of consciousness. It occurs when the blood supply to a part of the heart is interrupted, causing death and scarring of the local heart tissue.
I am so sorry to hear about everyone's recent setbacks. It reminds me so much of what I mention once in awhile here which is that for most of us our heart conditions are progressive and what we really are trying to do is slow the progression down as much as we can. That being said some of us will experience other heart issues in our future. I'm not trying to alarm anyone, I just find this so frightening. My EF is 45% to 50%, I''ve lost about 15% of my hearts ability to function, and I really cannot afford to lose anymore heart muscle without it effecting my ability to function normally. I pray that if I have another MI. I will recognize it early enough for an intervention prior to muscle damage. Now that I have that off my chest, I really want to wish everyone well and I hope that Richie, Joe, and Cassie all have a speedy and positive recovery.

That said, my 78 year old Aunt had a stent 20 years ago and is still going strong, my 79 year old Uncle had a quad bypass 25 years ago and is fighting fit and my Father, who had a new valve replacement, died of Sceptaceamea (blood poisoning). Nothing to do with his heart!
We can all live long and rewarding lives if we take care of ourselves and at the age of 46, I intend to. Surely, this is a time to be positive, take action and be pro-active in our health. Look at Sir Ranulph Fiennes - climbing mountains and running marathons after a heart attack on Mount Everest and a subsequent stent! Hats off to him, that's what I say.
Onwards and upwards, Songsj, you're clearly doing brilliantly. Just because some friends have had setbacks doesn't mean it's inevitable and certainly not for you or I. Let's take care of ourselves, live life to the full and love as much as we can. Certainly, I've learned that much.
