And this has just been my experience. When my meds are in question and my blood pressure runs around 95/60. The meds won't allow our blood pressures to increase, so with increased anxiety or activity the body compensates the need for more blood flow by speeding up our hearts. At rest meaning physically and psychologically you should be as you stated at about 60-75 BPM. Depending on your beta blocker dosage which inhibits adrenalin production and a racing heart, your heart can only do so much to satisfy demand. Before the meds we compensated by increasing BP and BPM to compensate. I think this beta blocker is a good check valve to prevent us from overstressing our hearts. So I was originally on 40 mg and now down to 10mg a day as I got better.

But yes these meds need to be regulated and you are doing a good thing monitoring your vitals under different circumstances. It's even good to have a journal for your physician to share how you are actually performing on these meds.

Doctor increased my Beta Blocker from 6.25mg to 12.25mg this morning. still at rest at 80 bpm, though so its still high. I've only been able to take one tablet, though so I'm hoping that with time, it'll come down. The slightest exertion kicks it straight back up, though and I don't like this at all. I just don't know what's caused it. Dehydration? That increases heart rate and I was drinking wine last night and I don't drink often. That could have had an effect, perhaps.

Gave me quite a turn. I'm not allowed to go over 100 bpm and I was at 110 at standstill. That was an eye opener, I can tell you!

Yepper Dehydration? Absolutely. It seems I have had this issue ever since being on all of these meds. You would think if we were becoming dehydrated we would drink water to compensate. But for some reason I don't seem to get the message that I am actually in a condition of dehydration. Soooooooo. What I do is I pinch the back of my hand and if the skin does not spring back readily when released to it's original position, I drink more fluids. I have found this to be a good way of keeping myself hydrated and avoiding further heart and kidney complications. I am also not on any medication like lasix or such, so another medication or combination of medications seems to be causal here. Caffeine and Alcohol are natural dehydrators. I find the Europeans always take a sip of wine and a sip of water consecutively. Maybe this is just a cultural way of compensating for their usual intake of wine. Who Know's?

My BP since heart attacks and with meds runs anywhere from 85/55 to 100/60..My heart beat is always around 85 to 105..when I get alittle stressed It goes up to 100+ easy.Then I get irregular heart beats..My cardio doctor doesnt seem concerned.he says its all normal for me and my body will adjust in time with the meds..So I guess time will tell.

Thank you for this. I was concerned because my HR had always been 64 and then suddenly shot up. As it happens I went back to the doctors today and saw my original Doctor who had dealt with my issues initially. He mentioned that it was possible that my cardiac needs were higher, I.e. I was making a faster recovery than my meds were capable of dealing with. Now my Beta Blockers are a higher dose, my heart rate is coming back down. I was actually 68 at rest today. Much better.

As my MI was 6 weeks ago and I've been back to work for 4 weeks, he said that, as most people go back to work a couple of months after their HA, the increase in cardiac activity gradually builds up and the heart muscle gets stronger just as gradually. Seems I've gone hell for leather and my meds need to catch up to support it. Now I've been increased, I feel better about it and the anxiety has eased off, which of course, helps.

Happily, he's also given me some Zantac which has offset the Clopidogrel - boy, was that giving me some migrating pain in the chest! Now it's all gone. In two days, I feel like a new woman, I can tell you.

It's amazing how your out look on life can change. One minute I'm thinking " when is this going to end - can I lead a normal life again" to "hey, I feel normal," and oh, the difference to me!

I have learned that dehydration plays a major part in the heart rate area so I shall be making very sure I drink very regularly.

All I can say do the doctors really know what the heck their doing any more? lol I'm being silly
mind is crazy too they just put me on another blood pressure pill...I take my old faithful Bystolic 2.5 mg at night. I can't take any more or my heart rate looks like yours too low....way too low....
I am now on Lisinopril 10mg in the morning time.....it's suppose to help with keeping my heart more normal numbers....
My bottom numbers are in the 100's and the top is anywhere and 150's up to 199.....mostly lately with the new Lisinopril it's in the 150/s or 160's/ 100 to 105
so what is normal for you might be different then me.
and what is normal for me is different then you.
So ask the doctors.........keep being like you have proactive....
hey yell at them....I told my GP off and he hasn't left me yet...
I kick my Neuro doctor because he shock me and what does he expect if you shock someone they might kick you back> lol
I am being funny but true story...this week I had several tests with different doctors...oh fun being ill isn't it. NOT

Oh forgot to add; my heart rate has been all week around the 60's they don't worry about me until I get under 50 or in the 40's.....
which has happen.....
