Not sure I fully understand your question but allow me to share this. Depression and anxiety are common in patients with heart disease. If my memory serves, I read somewhere that depression hits approximately 40% of us, and those who've suffered myocardial infarction (heart attack) are most susceptible. Why? I'm not really certain, perhaps it's facing our mortality, or perhaps a physiological change Just don't know, but it is what it is. What we have to do is recognize it and take appropriate steps to keep it under control.

There is no shame in seeking professional help. Make sure he gets it if needed. Few Cardiologists treat the problem, so I wouldn't expect much help from that arena. Find a professional who can help your husband get through these road bumps and if necessary get medication for the issue.

Hi I had a heart attack 2 months ago and it's perfectly natural to be depressed about something as serious as such life threatening experience. Did your husband have the bypass surgery done immediately after the heart attack and there was little time or other options available? The feeling of completely beyond your self control might be the reason for the brief depression he was having.
