Wow Cardhunter, good thing you got that stent. I'm glad you made it through that well, and it's a good thing that you kept pursuing some help with your chest pain. It sounds quite likely that you headed off a heart attack. Which artery was it? It seems like you've been putting a lot of effort into eating well. Do you or your docs have any other ideas of what you can do to stop or slow the process of atheroschlerosis?

Do I think that doctors cover their butts? Hell yes! I'm sorry that you got some degree of a run-around. A number of us here on this site have switched cardiologists, getting a new one in whom we had a greater sense of confidence. I wonder if it's time for you to consider finding a new doc?

I agree with Sue, cardhunter: I see a lot of CYA medicine practiced every day. We just have to be proactive when it comes to our health care. I am one of those who changed cardiologists. I really like the cardio I see now, but it took some time and help from another MD to find him.

Oh Gosh Here I go again.

Paauumm hit the nail right on the head. Be Proactive. I come froma family of medical professionals. CYA? You damn well better believe it. My brother-in-law went to Florida (Tampa) to practice anesthesiology becuase the malpractice insurance was more reasonable and increased his take home. There is an indecisive cardiology community out there. There are ones that will perform angioplasty with the first symptom. There are cardios that prefer to go with the medes first. There are ones that won't do anything until you are at deaths door. Heed Paauum. We are our best health care managers. Get to know your bodies voice. You know better than anyone else what the barometer of your body is informing you of. Listen to its murrmur, its message its VOICE. Doctors practice medicine. That scares me. I want one who is past practicing and is proactive and preventive. Search out a cardio that you are comfortable with. Educate and research your bodies' cardiac system. Our bodoes are incredible machines, shouting out loudly as we start and run our engines every day. Pain is a warning. If something doesn't seem right, it usually isn't. I always encourage DS'rs to get a whole body arteriogram to see what the state of the other arteries in the body are like. Most likely we all have other arteries that are in similar or worst condition that can also be life altering up to and including death from stoke and additional HA's. So with this new stent I feel better then ever . I have a new doc and im heading out to the woods for some R&R hoping for a nice big buck to come my way.
