Heart Attack Support Group
Heart attack is a serious, sudden heart condition usually characterized by varying degrees of chest pain or discomfort, weakness, sweating, nausea, vomiting, and arrhythmias, sometimes causing loss of consciousness. It occurs when the blood supply to a part of the heart is interrupted, causing death and scarring of the local heart tissue.
I am also sorry for your loss. Just keep off those diet sodas until we all no more. K?
My Best Regards,
Just Joe
Sorry to hear about your brother. I am not familiar with diet soda but I found a link that may answer your question. Consuming diet soda may have contributed to your brothers heart attack or may have not, but there could have been other factors as well. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your brother.
Hope this article helps.
Hugs,
Cassie

I would also like to point out, Neilster, that Joe is far from being an idiot. That comment was very much uncalled for and unkind. He is a valued friend to all on here.
Surely you must be new to this site. We all wait for JustJoe to weigh in on our questions because he does the kind of research that helps us so much.
My Best Regard Nielster,
Just Joe
I was fairly surprised when I found out as well. However, I've never been a big fizzy drink consumer but I know many that are. Nevertheless, when you consider that fizzy drinks are constructed of nothing but chemicals, it's not surprising. It would seem that sugar is always the heart healthiest of alternatives - note I say "heart".
I agree with your sentiments that it would be envisaged that an enormous amount would need to be consumed over a prolonged period for it to cause a HA - probably an ocean. One would assume that there was a major underlying problem in the first place.
Love an prayers, Joe

Well I confess I drink cokes, or cola's have for years. I hate the diet ones....I always opt for the "real" deal ones. I don't know if you can say and point that is why I have so many chest pains?
But since I don't work like I use too I don't drink the soda's like I once did.
Instead I have a cup of coffee in the mornings...and maybe at night or lunch a can of soda. But going further naw...just don't
I drink more water....I find lately I have a bit of dry mouth it's been creaping up on me.
When you talk about your brother droping tums, then something else could of been happening to him besides his heart.
Since you didn't say if the doctors knew what was wrong with your brother and cause his death? Was it Heart like you said?
Well....just food for thought it seems like all our body systems are
link together, maybe something else could help it along, not just from the sodas....maybe something to do with the stomach?
Well I am just a plain person with plain ideas....and what I been thru these last few years and doing some of those type of sodas except not diet.....I don't know for sure if it was it alone? but again just me with my little opion.
I hope that at lease your brother will rest in peace........
and you find solidute inside....
God must of needed your brother in heaven....or to teach people like me who love their sodas to look up and find out what it does to our body's? who knows right.
I hope you find something to help you thru this lost......
to hold on too........anyone that goes to lost // I feel it is hard.
God Bless you for your carring of your brother.
