Heart Attack Support Group
Heart attack is a serious, sudden heart condition usually characterized by varying degrees of chest pain or discomfort, weakness, sweating, nausea, vomiting, and arrhythmias, sometimes causing loss of consciousness. It occurs when the blood supply to a part of the heart is interrupted, causing death and scarring of the local heart tissue.
What you are describing sounds pretty normal to me. You lie down when you sleep and it takes much of the load off your heart pumping blood to the extremities. After you've been up awhile, your heart must work harder to pump blood vis a vis you start having more difficulty breathing and become more tired as the day wears on.
Let your Cardiologist know, but I'd say there's nothing to worry about.
Read your literature or go to WebMD and look up the side effects. My cardiologist told me that the statins have these side effects but the benefits of keeping the Chorlesterol lowered is better for us.
I have lost the front half of my heart wall motion, my ef is 46.
Have CAD; CHF; Angina; Cardiomyopathy; Ischemia and possible COPD from smoking; on Spiriva and have a puffer for emergencies; and yes shortness of breath when I try to go past the 15-20 min moderate walks.
The best thing is to remain positive by being grateful we are still here to talk of it! There are many things I can't do now and had to accept some big changes. We can do it; Robocop is an inspiration for us as well as a few others.
Pierre, it sounds like our EF's are about the same. I though 46 was pretty close to normal. When did you have your heart attack? Are you saying you have actually had heart failure symptoms yet...like swelling, etc.? I ask because I have not had any real symptoms yet and I was hoping that with an EF of 46 and the beta blockers and lisinopril, it might be possible to prevent heart failure from occurring. I'd appreciate your thoughts and wisdom.
I have known of people; one in particular who had 14 HA's and lived into his 70's; then of course; those who had cardiac arrest (heart stopped0 before the medics could revive them. Then their are those who have been brought back to life many times.
We don't know how long we have and neither do the doctors; all we do is pray to our spiritual beliefs; and try to live our life to the fullest without overdoing it. RoboPop; I believe is a seven year survivor and you will read about a true person who has much gratitude; which gives me a positive outlook on living.
