This community is dedicated to an open discussion about healthy sex and sharing thoughts and feelings about sexuality and improving one's sex life. Most active adults desire to have an active and fulfilling sex life, both for themselves and also their partner. Here we discuss common sexual challenges faced by both men and women.
If this "dark side" is the part of me that encourages a healthy sexual attitude, I would say that my feelings of self worth/esteem/value and confidence in myself is my "dark side". Which actually sounds more like the "come to the light" side.
Mary, yes, I'm talking about the sex urge, as well as the fight for survival urge.
Why do you consider this part of one's "dark side"?
The only dark thing about sex drive is the rapist who just wants control over another. I believe in a marriage, the one in control should consider the other as an equal and do no harm to them. It is the most giving relationship a person can have with another. Complete trust and hopefully love in the pure sense.
It is one of the strongest urges we have--hunger, sleep, sex, If we can satisfy all these, we are complete.
Texi, when everything's honkey dorey in life, I tend to get soft and fall into complacency, laziness. Only when I'm pushed into a very dark corner does my desire to fight emerge. And that desire to fight comes from a very dark, primitive place in my soul. Sex, likewise, gets stale, boring and mechanical for me when it's "plain vanilla". For me, it needs some gutteral impetus, maybe a little anger, for it to be really hot, and this comes from a very dark place in my soul. Therefore, I need to be "pushed", challenged, to be operating from that animal instinct.
